U.S. Publisher Electronic House magazine awarded this theater their Gold award for Best Home Theater $100,001-250,000. A 100 year old home had its basement dug out for a theater room. The homeowner had just one request which would test our ingenuity: Make the room perform like a high-quality theater but have it look like a natural extension of the house. The first challenge was to hide the theater projector. A specially constructed housing was built to house it to muffle any noise, and a ventilation system created to expel the warm air emitted from the projector. The audio-video components were placed in an equipment rack in the hallway leading to the theater room. The in-wall speakers and subwoofers were carefully hidden behind acoustically panelled fabric. Custom built seating cleverly hides hidden snack trays. And a console was built for the family’s gaming consoles and computer systems. A simple & intuitive Crestron touchpanel was programmed for family and friends to use.
